There is nothing quite like receiving a dozen red roses. Roses are the symbol of love - but not just for Valentine's Day. We have an exceptional range of styles suitable for anniversaries, birthdays and many other occasions, including funerals. Roses are available in bouquets, arrangements, baskets, pots and in presentation boxes. Quantities can vary from 1 rose to 6 dozen, and can be combined with other flowers such as lilies and gerberas. All our roses are premium quality and are hot-house grown here in Perth, for maximum longevity. Roses prefer cooler conditions and appreciate having their water changed or topped up frequently. While red roses are the most popular, many other colours are available and we can usually accommodate any requests with 24 hours notice. Roses for weddings and functions are quoted for separately. Please contact us for any queries you may have. We deliver daily, excluding Sundays and Public Holidays.
Care of Roses
Keep in a cool place, away from heaters and direct sunlight. Also avoid air conditioning vents and drafts. Change the water regularly and use a proprietary flower preservative which is usually supplied with bouquets, but readily obtainable from a florist. Home remedies are not recommended. Re-cut the stems (preferably under water) with a sharp knife at an angle - a vegetable paring knife works well. Ensure there is no greenery below the water level. This prevents bacterial build up and increases vase life. If a rose appears to be wilting, try re-cutting the stem and immersing in luke-warm water for 20 mins - revival is likely. Long-stem roses can be refreshed in a couple of inches of water in your bath.
Valentine's Day
Why are Valentine's day roses so expensive? Usually there is a huge demand for red roses around the Valentine's day period. While growers use numerous methods to boost production to cater for this busy period, they are a natural product and as such, production levels are affected by various factors, especially unexpected weather & temperature variations. The growing of roses and their harvesting is a very labour intensive process too, and prices of roses to the florist, skyrocket during this period - usually doubling in price. Aggravated by increased labour costs for the florists themselves, delivery surcharges are also imposed by couriers at this time. Hence you will find that Valentine's day roses are significantly more expensive on Valentines day and for the preceding week.
